Planning for test shoot and rehearsals

Today was the day where we focused on the research and development of our test shoot and split up to do different tasks, such as the performance element with the band and instruments and the narrative part with the boxing gym location and actors needed. Luckily due to the emails and planning before, everyone needed was free and able to get together for the band performance element to practice and rehearse and give a good visual image of what we wanted. Anna and I managed to get together our main instrumental cast with Ben as the drummer and Joel on guitar and our lead vocalist/actor with Jackie looking at set and locations. Joel and Ben had looked at the song and lyrics and got a good idea on how to play the music and what image we were looking for and how we wanted them to act on screen. They both took direction well and we managed to get some images and videos on ideas of what we want for the final product, also seeing what we don’t want in the process as well. Our next step is to get together all the band members with the lead vocalist to do a proper test shoot with the type of set we want in the background, therefore producing a good clear image of what we want as our final performance element in our music video. The process is looking promising so far but there is still a lot to do and improve on in order to get the desired effect we are after.

These are images of our drummer and guitarist dressed in all black for our colour scheme. They both worked really well together physically on camera and also with their instruments, confirming that they are right for our performance band style.

We got both cast members to perform part of the song of what they know with their instruments to get a good idea of how they sound and how confident they are on camera for a rehearsal to the track. As you can see they performed well and managed to learn the track list with their instruments quickly and efficiently allowing our task to be much easier and quickly done.

At the end i told them to learn the rest of the song and lyrics, from which I will send an email and attachment of more sheet music to help them along so that for our next rehearsal they will know exactly what we are doing and want on the day.
