Conventions of Genre Videos

In our lesson we looked at different types of music genres and their music videos and what elements you would expect to be in the type of genre, for example:




COUNTRY:  In a country type music video you would expect to see:

• Horses
• Hay
• Western Environment
• Cowboys
• Cowboy Hats and Boots
• Guitars
• Normally in acoustic version
• Typically "blond" younger innocent looking girls
• Barns
• Farm animals
• Truck

Rap/Hip-Hop: In a rap music video you would expect to see:

• Semi naked hot girls
• Pumped up cars
• stereotypical black guys
• gold chain accessories
• back caps
• big mansions
• money
• loose big t shirt clothing
• big gesture movements
• loud and vivid video

INTRODUCTION TO START OF A2 COURSE

A2 COURSE

After finishing the AS course which I thoroughly enjoyed, we have now started the course of A2 to look into and evaluate the music industry, which I am looking forward to due to never really looking into this industry before in detail. My genre of music is not very specific as I like a range of songs from different types of genre's, mainly artists such as Beyoncé, Eminem and sometimes Taylor Swift which all offer a range of music genres to listen to and evaluate in this course. Part of the A2 course will involve to produce and film our own music video, similar work to our previous thriller work in AS, a Website and a Digipak video which I am very much looking forward to as I believe it will be interesting and useful to learn due to this type of industry being very successful and big worldwide.
